EMACO Medium Velocity Fixed Spray Nozzle is an open type water spray nozzle used in fixed fire protection systems. It is typically installed in medium velocity water spray systems designed to apply water over exposed equipment and structural surfaces during a fire.

The nozzle produces a spray pattern using a deflector. When water flows through the nozzle, it hits the deflector, which breaks it into small droplets and spreads over the protected surface. This allows the water to absorb heat and cool down surfaces that are exposed to fire.

Medium velocity spray nozzles are commonly used in water spray systems for equipment cooling and exposure protection. These systems are designed to control the heating up of structures and equipment during a fire,  preventing the spread of fire.

In a typical water spray system, a deluge valve is used to activate it. As the deluge valve opens, water enters the piping network and flows to the nozzles. The nozzle then distributes the water over the protected area. The droplets cool the surface, absorb heat from the fire, and reduce heat exposure.

Medium velocity nozzles are mainly used for cooling and exposure protection instead of directly extinguishing fires. They are designed to apply water over surfaces. This not only prevents the spreading of fire, but also limits damage and prevents the collapse of important equipment and structures such as storage tanks, steel frames, and other vulnerable structures.

Water spray systems are commonly installed in industrial facilities where exposed equipment requires cooling during a fire.
