Gate Valve

The EMACO Gate Valve UL Listed is engineered for secure and efficient flow isolation in a wide range of pressurized piping systems. Designed using high-strength ductile iron and coated with ANSI/AWWA-compliant fusion-bonded epoxy, it provides exceptional durability, resistance to corrosion, and long service life even in challenging environments.

Its resilient-seated gate mechanism ensures tight sealing and smooth operation, while the full-bore flow path minimizes pressure drop—making it ideal for high-flow fire-protection lines, water distribution networks, and industrial pipelines.

Available in NRS (Non-Rising Stem) and OS&Y (Outside Stem & Yoke) configurations, the valve is adaptable to both standard building systems and critical fire-protection installations where visual open/close indication is essential.

Key Features

  • Material: Ductile Iron (EN-GJS-450-10 / ASTM A536)

  • Coating: Fusion Bonded Epoxy per ANSI/AWWA C550

  • Temperature Range: 0°C to 80°C

  • Pressure Rating: Up to 300 psi (depending on model & size)

  • Size Range: 2″ to 12″ (50–300 mm)
  • Configurations Available: NRS or OS&Y

Ideal for water networks, fire-fighting systems, building services, and industrial facilities, the EMACO Gate Valve delivers reliable shut-off performance and long-lasting operation.

The Gate Valve is one of the most widely used isolation valves across water, utility, and fire-protection infrastructures. Its function is simple yet critical: to fully stop or allow flow by raising or lowering a solid gate inside the valve body.

Unlike control valves, a gate valve is intended for on/off operation, providing an unobstructed straight-through flow path during fully open conditions. This makes it particularly valuable in pipelines where low friction loss and minimal flow disturbance are essential.

With rugged construction and precise sealing performance, it ensures long-term stability even in underground or outdoor installations.

How the EMACO Gate Valve Works

Flow Isolation

Rotating the handwheel (or operating gear) moves the stem, raising or lowering the internal gate.

  • Gate UP (Valve Open): Full unobstructed flow

  • Gate DOWN (Valve Closed): Complete flow shut-off

NRS and OS&Y Options

  • NRS (Non-Rising Stem): Compact design, ideal for underground or confined installations.

  • OS&Y: Stem rises visibly to show valve position—commonly used in fire-protection systems for safety compliance.

Full-Bore Design

The internal flow path matches the diameter of the pipe, minimizing friction loss and maintaining high flow efficiency.

Epoxy Protection

The fusion-bonded epoxy coating prevents corrosion, rusting, and wear, extending service life in both potable and harsh water environments.

Long-Term Reliability

With precision-machined seats and a resilient sealing system, the valve ensures leak-proof shut-off even after years of inactivity.

Technical Specifications

Applications & Use Cases for Gate Valve

Municipal Water Distribution

Used for isolating sections of water mains during repair, maintenance, or emergency shutdowns.

Fire-Protection Systems

Installed in hydrant lines, sprinkler mains, pump rooms, and risers. OS&Y type preferred for visible position indication.

Wastewater & Sewage Networks

Suitable for non-corrosive sewage and drainage systems requiring high flow capacity.

HVAC & Building Services

Common in chilled water, condenser water, and general building pipeline networks.

Industrial Water & Utility Systems

Useful in mining, chemical plants, factories, and energy facilities for reliable pipeline isolation.

Irrigation Networks

Ensures smooth flow control in agricultural water distribution channels.

Maintenance and Care

Regular Inspection

Check handwheel operation, stem integrity, coating condition, and any external signs of corrosion.

Stem Lubrication

Ensure smooth gate movement by lubricating stem threads periodically (especially OS&Y).

Operational Testing

Cycle the valve (open/close) periodically to maintain seat flexibility and prevent sticking.

Coating Protection

Touch up damaged epoxy areas to prevent rusting over long-term exposure.

Underground Installations

Use valve boxes and ensure the valve is accessible for operation and maintenance.
