EMACO Butterfly Valve is a fire protection valve used for flow control and isolation in fire protection water lines.
The valve is used to fully turn on or fully turn off the water flow. It is generally not used for flow or pressure regulating. When the valve is opened, the disc turns parallel to the waterway and allows water to pass through the valve body. When closed, the disc turns across the flow path and seals against the resilient seat to stop the flow.
EMACO butterfly valves are commonly used in fire protection systems where reliable flow control is needed in a compact valve body. They are installed in firefighting pipeworks such as sprinkler systems, fire water mains, pump room lines, fire suppression systems, and building fire protection networks.
The valves are available in grooved, wafer, and lugged wafer configurations. Grooved butterfly valves are used with grooved piping systems and are suitable for fast installation in fire protection pipe networks. Wafer butterfly valves are installed between flanges and are commonly used where a compact valve is required. Lugged wafer butterfly valves are also installed between flanges, but the lug design allows one side of the pipeline to be disconnected where this type of maintenance arrangement is required.
Some models are supplied with a supervisory tamper switch. This allows the open or closed position of the valve to be monitored through the fire alarm control panel. This is normally required in monitored fire protection systems where valve position supervision is needed.
Used in fire protection and water control systems for:
These valves are made from ductile iron and use EPDM or NBR sealing materials depending on the configuration. The valve body is finished with Fusion Bonded Epoxy coating for corrosion resistance. This makes the valve suitable for fire protection water lines where long service life and reliable shut-off are required.
