High Expansion Foam Generator

The EMACO High Expansion Foam Generator is engineered for high-efficiency foam generation in total-flooding fire suppression systems. Using a water-driven turbine and aerofoil fan, the unit draws in ambient air, mixes it with foam solution under pressure, and outputs a massive volume of high-expansion foam. Because it relies solely on water pressure and foam concentrate, the generator eliminates the need for electricity or external power — making it highly reliable and suitable for emergency or remote deployments.

It excels in large-volume, enclosed-area applications such as warehouses, cable ducts, tunnels, mines, basements, chemical-storage rooms — environments where quick filling and foam saturation are critical for fire suppression or smoke/heat extraction.

Key Features

  • High-expansion foam generation for total-flooding protection
  • Water-driven turbine—no external power needed
  • FRP or stainless-steel construction options
  • Expansion ratios up to 1000:1
  • Operates effectively within 3.5–10 bar pressure
  • Available in portable or fixed configurations
  • Low maintenance and durable design

The EMACO High Expansion Foam Generator is a water-driven foam generator designed for total-flooding fire protection in confined or semi-enclosed spaces. It produces large volumes of high-expansion foam (with an expansion ratio of up to 1000:1, depending on the model), requiring only a pressurized water supply and foam concentrate — no external power source is needed. Ideal for rapid fire suppression, smoke extraction, and positive-pressure ventilation in warehouses, tunnels, cable ducts, mines, basements, and similar hazardous environments.

How It Works

  1. Foam Solution Supply
A mixture of water and high-expansion foam concentrate is supplied under pressure to the Foam Generator.
  2. Water-Driven Turbine & Aerofoil Fan Activation
The supplied solution drives a turbine which, in turn, powers an aerofoil fan. The fan draws ambient air into the unit.
  3. Air Induction & Foam Formation
The foam solution is forced through a mesh or screen while air is being drawn in. This mixing creates a high-expansion foam — composed of a mass of tiny, stable bubbles — rapidly expanding to many times the original liquid volume.
  4. Foam Discharge & Total Flooding
The expanded foam is then discharged into the protected space, quickly filling the area. The foam blanket displaces oxygen, cools surfaces, suppresses vapours, and helps control or extinguish fire and smoke.

Technical Specifications

  • Expansion rates up to 940 gallons
  •  No outside source of power required
  • Foam solution piping and discharge nozzles are of an open design
  •  allowing passage of particles of up to ¼” in diameter

Applications & Use Cases

  • Basements, Underground Mines & Tunnels — total-flooding foam quickly fills enclosed spaces to suppress fire and control smoke.
  • Warehouses & Storage Facilities — ideal for areas storing flammable materials or large quantities of goods, where rapid foam coverage is essential.
  • Cable Ducts, Cable Tunnels, Substations — narrow or enclosed spaces where foam can spread and suppress fire and heat effectively.
  • Marine, Offshore, Shipholds & Engine Rooms — enclosed compartments aboard vessels or offshore platforms where high-expansion foam can suppress fire and contain vapour.
  • Industrial & Petrochemical Plants, Chemical Storage Areas — areas with flammable liquids or hazardous materials, where high-expansion foam provides rapid coverage and vapour suppression.
  • Smoke Extraction & Positive Pressure Ventilation — Beyond Fire Suppression, the Foam Generator Can Aid in Smoke Control and Ventilation in Emergencies.

Why Choose EMACO High Expansion Foam Generator

  • No External Power Needed — runs solely on pressurized water and foam solution, eliminating reliance on electric or engine power.
  • Very High Foam Output & Expansion — delivers expansion ratios up to 1000:1 for rapid total-flooding coverage of large or confined spaces.
  • Flexible Material & Model Options — FRP and stainless steel models for durability and corrosion resistance, and various models to suit different capacities and applications.
  • Rapid Deployment & Easy Installation — portable or fixed installation options allow quick response even in remote or hard-to-access areas.
  • Effective Smoke & Heat Control — apart from fire extinguishment, the foam helps suppress vapours, displace oxygen, cool surfaces, and aid in smoke extraction/ventilation.

Maintenance & Care

  • Periodically inspect the unit for corrosion, wear, or damage — especially fan, turbine, and spray mesh/screen.
  • Ensure the foam concentrate used is compatible with the generator’s specification and properly mixed.
  • After use, perform a flow and foam-quality test to confirm the expansion ratio and bubble stability.
  • Store portable units in a clean, dry condition to avoid degradation of FRP or metal components over time.

Replace worn or damaged components (e.g., fan blades, mesh screen, seals) immediately to maintain reliable performance.
