EMACO Double Jacket Lay Flat Fire Hose is a firefighting hose used with hydrants, fire pumps, or fire engines to apply water for firefighting.
The outer jacket is double lined and made from 100% virgin polyester. This layer provides strength and durability against wear and tear, dragging, and environmental damage during firefighting while keeping it flexible for use. The inside of the hose is lined with polyurethane (TPU) or EPDM rubber, which makes the inside smooth for water to easily flow through when in use. The inner and outer layers are bonded using pillar adhesion bonding, which makes them strongly bonded and prevents detaching when bent, rolled, or repeatedly used in harsh environments.
The hose uses a lay flat design. When there is no water inside, the hose collapses and stays flat, which can easily be rolled into a coil for carrying or storing. When needed, connect to the water source. Once water flows into the hose, it expands into a round shape that allows water to flow through it and can be used for firefighting.
Double jacket fire hoses are commonly used in situations where highly durable hoses are needed. They are widely used in municipal firefighting, industrial facilities, and emergency response operations.
Typical applications include:
The double lined outer polyester jacket and the elastomer coating help protect the hose from abrasion, heat, and general environmental damage. The inner lining is also resistant to salt water, which makes it suitable to be used with seawater in offshore, marine, or coastal firefighting environments.

Q1. What is the difference between a fire hose double jacket and single jacket?
A double jacket hose features two outer woven jackets protecting the liner, whereas a single jacket hose has just one. The double layer increases durability and abrasion resistance, making it more suitable for heavy-use, industrial and municipal firefighting scenarios.
Q2. Can this hose be used with foam or seawater?
Yes. The EMACO fire hose double jacket offers liner options (EPDM or polyurethane) that handle foam systems and salt-water exposure. Always check liner-material compatibility with your specific fluid media.
Q3. How often should it be tested?
Annual hydrostatic testing is recommended (as per NFPA 1962 or your local fire authority standard). Regular visual inspections should occur after each deployment.
Q4. What diameters and colours are available?
Typical nominal sizes include 1.5″ (38 mm), 1.75″ (44 mm), 2.5″ (64 mm) and custom sizes can be produced. Colour options mentioned include Yellow, Orange, Red, White, Black, Blue, Green. (EMACO GLOBAL LLC)
Q5. Does the double jacket hose add significant weight compared to single jacket?
It adds some weight and stiffness due to the additional layer, but the lay-flat design and robust materials ensure handling remains practical. For high-demand installations the trade-off in added durability is well worth the slight increase in weight.
